A well deserved break | Alpharetta Photographer

Posted on January 24, 2010

January has proven to be a well needed break for me.  I always take off December but it never really feels like a break since the Holidays are quite busy otherwise.  This month has proven to be busy for my family as well so being the slow season has worked out well.  I do have clients waiting on clear, warmer weather though so the first pretty day we will be out there for sure.  I am finishing my editing of my last sweet newborn so I thought I would share a few more of her with you.  She was so fun to photograph and proofing her session was just as fun.

There also lots of changes happening within AGR Photography in the up coming months. I can’t speak to them right now but many things are on the horizon for this year and I am super excited about it.  One thing I can speak about is an upcoming casting call.  I will be looking for maternity and newborn models in the next couple of months for some projects I have in the works.  I will release details at a later date but for those of you who know someone who is expecting in the next 2-3 months keep my casting call in mind.  It will involve a free session for them with the possibility for more.

Snow and Catching up | Alpharetta Photographer

Posted on January 8, 2010

So today we had a snow day… fun for the kids but I was sort of hoping to get caught up today. Oh well,  playing outside, drinking hot chocolate and watching movies wasn’t such a bad way to spend the day either.  In Georgia it is rare we get much snow so my kids are beyond thrilled to see it.  They are funny though because they last about 1/2 hour and then they are ready to go inside. The novelty wears off quick around here. :)   But I did manage to get a few snaps of them outside playing.

IMG_5705While the older two were very happy… Lydia was cold and over it by this point.

I am trying to get caught up on my ordering and proofing… it takes some time after vacation but I will get there.  I have some new and exciting things in the works.  No announcements since some of them are still in the planning stages.  I am now booking Feb and beyond as well and have a limit on my sessions for the Spring because of other projects.  So call early for your Spring or early Summer session.  Be safe out in the icy/snowy weather!

Awesome snow pictures Alisha. It is so fun to see their smiles. :) I remember when my kids were little and it felt like I dressed them a hundred times a day to play outside for 2 minutes.

Back to work | Alpharetta Newborn Photographer

Posted on January 6, 2010

Today was the day… back to work and I loved every minute of this session.  This sweet little chunk of love spent three hours here at my studio with her mommy and daddy.  We had the best time chatting and loving on this little one.  I am so thankful to have such a wonderful job where I get to cuddle with sweet tiny babies.  It does this mommy’s heart good every time I get to hold one.  I thought about keeping this one.  ;) Just check out her chunky cheeks and head full of hair…  and she had the biggest blue eyes.  So pretty.  Welcome to the world baby girl.

Happy New Year

Posted on January 4, 2010

Happy New Year to all my readers.  I have taken a break from the blog to enjoy some wonderful family time… much of it spent in the glorious Turks and Caicos.  We spent 7 wonderful days there with the whole Robertson clan.  Including the kid’s 85 year old Great Grandmother.  What wonderful memories we made for all.  My kids had the best time in the pools, the on-site water-park and the beautiful beaches.  The water is breathtaking to look at, the sand so soft and we had the most beautiful low humidity sunny days all week.  The All inclusive resort we stayed at had many restaurants to choose from and as a bonus they were so accommodating to our special dietary needs.  Every pool had a hot tub and a swim up bar with unlimited drinks for all. The kids drank so many smoothies. They loved ordering them themselves.  :)   Our room was divine as well with a beautiful view of the ocean.

So anyway… that is where I have been. Now it is back to reality.  :)

This is the view from our room balcony.  It was a beautiful site to wake up to everyday!

Happy Holidays

Posted on December 26, 2009

To all my readers.  I hope your Holiday is filled with love and family.  We had a wonderful Christmas Day with both sides of our family.  And we were all feeling so blessed to have our health and each other.

AGR Photography will be officially closed till the new year so everyone enjoy your break and I will see you on the flip-side.  I leave you with our family session images for our Christmas card.  Thanks to my good friend and photographer Sara Ippolito for making this happen.  When stirred away from traditional colors and settings this year.  We went for BRIGHT and MERRY!

It blows my mind every day that I have an 8 year old!
I am so proud of the big kid he has become.

My precious first born daughter Ella!  6 1/2!!!  She is a true blessing in every way!
Plus she is becoming quite the model don’t you agree?

And the littlest of the group!  Miss Lyddie!  Almost 4…
She is spunky, opinionated, funny, silly and strong!  Everything a 3rd child should be.
We love her so!

And this shot will soon be a big old canvas on my wall.
Sara took this for me while Scott and I were working hard to make them laugh.  :)

Last session of 2009 | Roswell Baby and Child Photographer

Posted on December 19, 2009

Last week I shot my very last session of the year 2009.  Little J is getting so big and we met in Roswell for his 1 year session.  What a way to end the year celebrating his first birthday.  I have so enjoyed photographing him over the past year.  He was so cute to watch toddle around and snicker at us.  It was chilly so we had a fast session before his little nose turned red, but I still have so many to go through.  Thank you so much mom for sharing your sweetie with me.  Happy Birthday to you J!  I hope you enjoyed your party today!!!!

IMG_5231And don’t forget about the contest I posted below.  You still have time to nominate someone for your chance to both be winners.

Tis the Season…

Posted on December 15, 2009

I am SO excited to be a part of this event this year. So far there are over 317 contributing photographers worldwide giving away more than $300,000 in custom photographic services to families in need. So please take a moment to read through this post and then think about who you know that would be deserving and appreciative of something like this.

You know someone….

Someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances.

You know someone….

Someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season.

You know someone…

Someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — $2000 worth, to be exact.  It will include a session with me, a complete set of proofs (5×7) and all the digital files. It’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $500 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside within 1 hour of Alpharetta, GA.

*Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* You must e-mail me the full story : agrphotography@gmail.com

The deadline for nominations is New Year’s Eve.

The winner will be announced by email on New Year’s Day — get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,

My last session was another sweet baby boy.  He came to see me on one of our many rainy days and we had the best time.  I so enjoyed visiting with this family and spending time with him.  He was so good to us and was the perfect model.  Congrats to this beautiful family.

Little ones…

Posted on December 2, 2009

This week has been filled with wee ones.  I have had two newborns to meet this week.   Both sweet boys with sweet families.  I truly enjoy my time with my clients so much.  It is so much fun to chat and talk, swoon over their precious babies and exchange motherly advice.  It makes my job so… well not like a job.  :)

This little guy came to see me at when he was 9 days old.  He was so sweet and so peaceful.  He arrived awake and hungry and after his meal he laid on the beanbag and just took it all in.  Then he slowly drifted off and pretty much slept for the next two hours.  He was a pure delight.

Light and Color | Alpharetta Baby and Child Photographer

Posted on November 17, 2009

I am always amazed at the properties of light… I think before I was a photographer I saw it but didn’t really know what I was seeing.  Now that I have trained my eyes over the past few years I see it so much differently now.  The light in a given location can change so much depending on the season, the time of day, the humidity in the air, the clouds, ect.  I find it so amazing how two sessions shot in similar locations have a completely different look and feel.  This particular day was a beautiful fall day with very low humidity.  I believe it was around high noon too.  And if you talk to most photographers they will tell you that is not ideal for light.  Harsh sun, squinty eyes, ect.  I have found in GA we are lucky with all our tree cover if you find the right spot it doesn’t matter what time of day it is.  This session turned out to have some of the prettiest colors… the sun was bright the light was clean and the subject was beyond adorable.  The Fall colors reflecting all around us gave us beautiful warm backgrounds.  So while I was editing this sneak peek it inspired me to talk a bit about that light.  Look around you, pay attention to your light, see how it can beautifully set off someones eyes or skin tones.  It is really fascinating when you start paying attention to it.

This little one is graduating baby planner and boy oh boy I am going to miss not seeing her every 4 months.  She has been a joy to photograph from the very first time I met her at 10 days old.  I just adore her and her mommy and daddy!  I thought it would be fun to revisit some newborn shots.  Look how tiny she was!

emerson013And look at her now!!!!

See what I mean about the colors?  Beautiful!

She is seriously one of the happiest babies around.  Or should I say toddlers? She makes
my job VERY easy.

Thank you for a wonderful year E!
